A Malian market dominated by agriculture and informality

As in the rest of the WAEMU zone, agriculture provides most jobs for young people and informality affects almost all of them, according to ILOSTAT. The formal employers cited in our sources include a gold mining operator and a telecoms operator.

An ILO document mentions a Ministry of Crafts and Transformation of the Informal Sector, a sign of public attention to these activities. The date and the current organisation of government have not been verified.

Mali's SMIG: a 2015 decree

The minimum wage is set by Decree No. 2015-0363/P-RM of 19 May 2015. Its amount has not been confirmed in our sources, and the NATLEX entry consulted pointed to a different text: insist on a written, quantified salary.
